Happy Holidays from the Ojisu Team!

Read:

Now that winter is underway, it’s finally time to start thinking about the holidays! As the world’s melting pot, the US celebrates many different traditions this time of the year, from Christmas to Chanukah to Kwanza. However, this can be a bit confusing to some international students, especially those who have not been exposed to many religions or cultures. Here are some tips on how to involve your student this holiday season!

Chances are that your student has heard of some of this season’s holidays, but has yet to experience one first hand. Give your student a little bit of background about what holidays your family celebrates and what the traditions are. Remember, it can be intimidating experiencing something new in an environment where everyone is already used to it – so be sure to make your guest feel at home and invite them to participate in all of your holiday festivities. Feel free to send us pictures of your holiday celebration with your guest to be featured on our Instagram, Facebook, and blog too :-)

As always, don’t forget to keep in touch and let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to help make your homestay experience go as smoothly as possible.
